Terminating a Snow Fence
TERMINATING A SNOW FENCE
May 3, 2011
Clamp-on Snow Fences should only be terminated at rakes, hips, sidewalls, and valleys. When snow fences are terminated in the field problems can arise. The snow and ice extending beyond the snow fence tends to freeze in a solid mass and hinge on the fence termination. This creates termendous forces on the end of the snow fence, more than can be sustained, resulting in damage and failures. T.R.A.-MAGE does not recommend this type of installation in any situation, if the situation is unaviodable there are a number of things that can be done to either strengthen the fence termination or prevent the snow and ice from freezing together in the location.
